Do you wanna be a Super?

What if I told you there was a way you could be strong enough and powerful enough to meet any challenge, accomplish any goal, and rise to any occasion God presented you with, without shrinking back? Would you want to know about it? If there was a way to be well, would you choose it? It’s the age-old question — the same one Jesus posed to the man who had been crippled for 37 years as he sat by the pool of Siloam: “Do you want to get well?”

It’s a huge question, the answer to which will compel us forward into accomplishing great things for God, or drop us back into being comfortably useless.

Do you want to overcome your fears or cling to them? Do you want to live in a miracle or settle with mediocre? Do you want to go beyond or lag behind? Do you want to coddle your weaknesses or see them turned them into strengths?

These are not easy questions by any stretch. The obvious answers don’t appear so obvious when they meet up with real life. If we lived our lives in comic books, we could all be supers — no sweat — but here in real life, with the fears and rationalizations we’ve been clinging to all our lives, having them suddenly wrenched from our grasp leaves us feeling vulnerable and naked, which is where we have to be before anything great can come.

I’m inviting you to embark with me on a journey — a journey into the unknown world of living beyond our excuses and rationalizations into the power of God through our vulnerability. Leave your cover-up in the telephone booth; toss your excuses in the trash can; check your fears at the door; this is an invitation to greatness.

Do you want to be powerful or pathetic? The way is provided by the Lord; the choice is up to us.

Ouch! Message arrived right on time. I’ve been praying over something (for years!) that I haven’t yet been willing to act on myself. Just waiting for my magician God to fix the problem so I don’t have to do any of the hard work.
